This publication contains the papers presented at the symposium entitled “Oman – Germany: Cultural and Scientific Relations” held at the Free University of Berlin in June 2008. The event was part of the “Oman Cultural Week in Berlin”, organised by Oman’s Ministry of National Heritage in cooperation with the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Berlin. Oman and Germany have long enjoyed mutually beneficial contacts, and it is my sincere hope that this volume will both contribute to the readers’ knowledge and enhance their understanding of the excellent relations between the two countries.
